This recipe for Biscoff Syrup shows you how to make an easy simple syrup with rich warming spices. Perfect for baked goods or as a delightful addition to your coffee or tea.
Stir the sugars and water together in a pot, bring to the boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer for 5 minutes.
Add the biscoff spice and cook for a further 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat, stir in the vanilla and allow to cool.
Strain in a fine mesh strainer (or mesh bag) over a bowl.
Pour into a jar or bottle and keep in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.
Notes
Make sure you add the spices only after the sugar has been at a simmer for at least 5 minutes. Adding the spices to boiling water could cause them to heat too quickly and leave a bitter taste. The simple syrup needs to cool enough before adding it into jars or containers as the hot sugar liquid could cause serious burns. For best results, make sure you are using a sanitized jar or container to store biscoff syrup as you do not want any bacteria to form. If you would like a lighter-colored syrup, strain twice to remove any remaining spice particles.
