Ingredients
2
cups
brown sugar
light or dark, 250g
1
cup
water
235ml
1
cinnamon stick
Optional: 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Stir the brown sugar and water together in a small saucepan over a medium heat, until the sugar dissolves, but don’t allow it to boil.
Add the cinnamon stick, reduce the heat and let the cinnamon brown sugar syrup simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and allow the simple syrup to cool, then remove the cinnamon stick. If using vanilla, stir it in now.
Pour it into a clean jar or bottle. The syrup can be stored in the fridge for up to 1-2 weeks in an airtight container.
To store for longer, or for gifting, store in a sterilized jar or bottle for up to a month.
This cinnamon brown sugar syrup is perfect for adding to coffee, tea, cocktails, or drizzling over pancakes!
