Homemade naan bread pizza is ready in just 10 minutes! Using naan instead of other store bought pizza bases means you get a beautifully thick and fluffy crust. Now you can have dinner on the table super quick, and tasty pizzas with a chewy thick crust.

    Naan Pizza

If you're looking for a quick weeknight dinner that the whole family will love, then I've got it right here for you! Naan Pizza. It's faster than a frozen pizza, and you can easily customise it with your favourite toppings.

The trick to a super quick 10-minute homemade pizza, is to use naan for the base. This recipe is all about shortcuts.

I’ve never found a store bought pizza base that I’ve liked, but swapping it for a light and fluffy naan makes all the difference. It’s got that perfect chewy consistency to make the best vehicle for your favourite sauce, cheese and toppings.

I like to put out a few bowls of toppings and let the kids customise their own pizzas. It’s fun, tasty and ready in minutes!

Seriously, once you make naan pizza, you'll never go back to using regular pizza bases again.

    10 Minute Pizza

As a foodie, I spend every weeknight slaving away in the kitchen for hours to make nourishing meals for my family. Wait, no. That’s a massive lie. Rather, I’m a huge fan of shortcuts.

Family meals don’t have to be time consuming. Knowing a few shortcuts can make weekday cooking a breeze.

I always keep a stash of frozen chopped onions, garlic and ginger in the freezer so I can throw meals together with minimal fuss (and prevent wastage). Keeping the cupboard stocked with cans of beans/tomatoes/pulses means I can have super quick meals on the table with ease (check out my Spanish Beans, ready in 15 minutes). I also batch cook our favourite dinners and load up the freezer with a few extra portions.

    Naan Pizza Crust

We love making pizzas for dinner, and although making my own dough is easy, sometimes I just don’t plan ahead with enough time to make it. That’s where a few store-bought naan breads in the cupboard come in handy.

I see you raising an eyebrow and wondering why I don’t just buy premade pizza bases. Well, I’ve never tried one that’s actually any good, and I’m sure you’ll agree with me on that.

However, using a naan creates a fluffy, light and tasty pizza base. And all you have to do is add your toppings and stick it in the oven for a few minutes. Easy peasy.

Naan bread pizza, ones sliced and the other whole, with toppings in bowls around them.

    Naan Recipe

To make these pizzas really quickly and easily, I tend to use store bought naan bread.

However, you can make naan at home really easily with just a few ingredients. Check out my easy naan bread recipe. It's a yeast free flatbread recipe so it only takes minutes to stir together the few ingredients, roll into rounds and then fry for a few minute on each side. They're lovely with curry (like my chickpea curry), or as a base for these tasty naan pizzas.

Looking for other pizza recipes? Try these!

Beet Pizza (a bright purple pizza crust)
Carrot Pizza (carrot in the pizza crust)
Spinach Pizza (you guessed it, green pizza crust!)
    Veggie Sausage Skillet Pizza

And for something rather different, Mini Apple Pizzas (a great healthy dessert or snack)

Tips and tricks for making Naan Pizza

    • If you like a crispy crust, then bake it for a few minutes before adding your toppings, or put it into the toaster for a few minutes.
    • Prefer Italian-style thin crust? Just grab a rolling pin and flatten the naan out a bit before adding sauce and toppings.
    • This is perfect for when the kids have friends over. Put out bowls of toppings and let them add their favourites.
    • Try making your own pizza sauce.
    • Make it gluten free by choosing a gluten free naan bread.
    • Make it vegan: Check the ingredients of the naan bread. Many are vegan and dairy free. Then be sure to choose vegan toppings and cheese.

    Pizza Topping Ideas:

Use whatever pizza toppings you love, such as:

    • Tomato sauce (passata, tomato paste, jarred pizza or pasta sauce - all will work)
    • Mozzarella
    • Corn
    • Mushrooms
    • Olives
    • Bell peppers
    • Onions
    • Roasted veggies
    • Tomatoes
    • Basil
    • Spinach

    Equipment

    • Baking sheet
    • Oven
    • Knife

    Ingredients

    • 2 shop bought naan bread
    • 3 tablespoon pizza sauce or vegetarian pesto
    • 9 oz (250g) mozzarella or vegan alternative

    Suggested toppings:

    • 2 teaspoon sweetcorn
    • 4 button mushrooms thinly sliced
    • 2 teaspoon sliced black olives
    • ¼ red onion thinly sliced
    • ½ green pepper deseeded and finely chopped

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 220C/430F.
    • Spread the pizza sauce or pesto onto the naans. Tear off small pieces of the mozzarella and add them to the naan pizzas, then add desired toppings.
