A simple, delicious summer dessert!

Peaches and Cream is just the best dessert ever, am I right?

A fresh summer peach is truly worth the wait every year.

I love using summer peaches any way I can because I know the juicy fresh taste only comes around once a year. I love them in salads, grilled, in Peach Compote or Peach Syrup.

One of the best desserts I make using peaches is simple peaches and cream.

This no-bake dessert is the perfect treat to serve during the summer months because it takes just minutes to make and there is no need to turn on the oven!

It’s also incredibly easy to assemble. You’ll take freshly sliced peaches and toss them with sugar. A vanilla-infused cream is then poured over them making a truly creamy sweet decadence that can be enjoyed as a dessert or afternoon snack.

You'll also love Peach Muffins, Easy Peach Syrup and Peach Compote!

It's so easy and perfect to feed a crowd.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

Peaches and Cream is a great dessert to make when you have an abundance of summer peaches on hand.

It’s a no-bake dessert that comes together in just minutes.

It's made with simple ingredients you can find anywhere in the summer months.

Customize it by adding your favorite fruit to the mix.

Make it with plain cream or slightly whip it for a light and airy texture.

Ingredients

You only need a few simple ingredients for this tasty classic summer dessert.

  • Ripe Peaches - Adds a sweet summery peach flavor and texture to the cream.
  • Heavy Cream (or whipping cream, double cream) - Gives this easy dessert its creamy flavor.
  • Granulated Sugar - Sweetens up the cream and enhances the natural sweetness of the peaches.
  • Vanilla Extract - Infuses the cream with a natural vanilla flavor.
  • Fresh Mint (optional) - Used as a fresh garnish and gives it a pop of green color.

See the recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

It's a classic recipe, but you might be wondering how to make peaches and cream.

Just follow this tutorial and see how easy it is!

Sliced peaches on a cutting board.
Clean, pit and slice the peaches.

Prepare the peaches: Wash the ripe peaches gently. Remove the pit in the center, then cut the flesh into ½ inch slices.

Bowl of sugared peaches.
Sprinkle with sugar.

Sugar the peaches: Add the sliced peaches to a bowl and sprinkle with sugar. Toss gently and let them sit until all of the sugar granules dissolve.

Bowl of cream and vanilla.
Stir in vanilla.

Prepare the cream: Stir the vanilla extract into the cream. You can whip it slightly, or leave it liquid.

Bowl of peaches with cream poured in.

Assemble: Distribute the sugared peaches into serving bowls, then add vanilla cream on top. Serve cold with a sprig of fresh mint on top.

Variations

Give this dessert a hint of caramel flavor and use brown sugar instead of white granulated sugar.

For a more light and airy dessert, whip the cream slightly, or use whipped cream.

Make it even more decadent by using ice cream instead of heavy cream.

Use up more summer fruit by mixing in some strawberries or blueberries or your favorite fruit.

Sugar the peaches with a bit of cinnamon or Pumpkin Pie Spice for a warming flavor.

Basil makes a great garnish and flavor combination with the peaches.

Heat the peaches in a skillet until warm to serve under the cream for a warm peach dessert.

Serving Suggestions

Add a drizzle of Strawberry Syrup or Raspberry syrup on top for additional fruit flavor. For a big hit of peach flavor, go for an easy Peach Syrup.

Make them alongside Strawberries and Cream for a great way to watch a tennis match.

Mix cream with Peach Compote for a quick and easy version of this dessert.

Serve it with a Gin and Tonic float on a hot summer day.

Storage

Storing: Any leftover peaches should be stored separately from the cream in airtight containers for 1-2 days. The longer the peaches sit in the fridge, the mushier they will get, so it’s best to serve this dessert on the same day.

Freezing: Due to the high water content in peaches, they do not freeze well along with the cream. Freezing is not recommended.

FAQs

Can I use frozen peaches?
For best results, you’ll want to use ripe peaches as frozen peaches have a mushy texture when thawed that is great for some treats, but not so much this one.

Does this recipe work using white peaches?
Absolutely! Just make sure you adjust the amount of sugar as white peaches tend to be less sweet.

What can I use besides cream for this recipe?
You can use coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, or any creamy plant-based milk you enjoy such as soy milk, oat milk, or almond milk.

Top tips

When choosing peaches for this dessert, make sure you choose ones that are at the perfect ripeness. This means they should give in to pressure slightly when poked with your finger. Peaches that are too ripe will get mushy and underripe peaches may be bitter.

Be careful when removing the pit from the center of the peach to make sure you do not damage the flesh. How to pit a peach is quite easy with the right steps.

It’s important to make sure the sugar dissolves fully before pouring the cream over to make sure the granule texture is not in the dessert.
