A quick three-ingredient Peppermint Syrup perfect for coffee, hot cocoa, cocktails, pancakes, holiday baking and more! Sweet, minty, and easy to make in under 10 minutes.
There’s something magical about peppermint at the holidays. It’s fresh, sweet, and invigorating all at once.
Whether you’re cozying up with a hot chocolate or mixing a summery mojito, peppermint syrup can transform it into something extra special.
This recipe is as easy as it gets—three ingredients and about 10 minutes of your time—and the results are transformative.
This syrup tastes like a winter breeze: crisp, minty, and just the right amount of sweet. It's just like ones you love from Torani, Monin or Starbucks! Only far cheaper and you can control the ingredients.
When I first started making my own syrups, I was surprised at how much better they tasted than store-bought versions.
Peppermint syrup quickly became a favorite, especially during the colder months. Store-bought syrups often have a slightly artificial aftertaste, but when you make it yourself, the flavor is clean, vibrant, and totally customizable.
It’s perfect for adding to coffee, tea, or cocktails, but don’t stop there—try drizzling it over ice cream or folding it into whipped cream for an unexpected burst of flavor. My kids love it on holiday pancakes with whipped cream!
Making this simple syrup is a breeze too. The hardest part? Deciding how to use it first.
Why not add a bottle to a hot cocoa bar or coffee bar over Christmas?
Add some marshmallows, chocolate chips, candy canes and a few bottles of festive simple syrup. Go for Chai Syrup, Cinnamon Brown Sugar Syrup, Cranberry Syrup, Pumpkin Spice Syrup or Biscoff Syrup.

Top tips
- Don’t Overheat: Simmer the mixture gently; boiling can alter the flavor and texture of the syrup.
- Clean Containers: Sterilize your storage jar or bottle by rinsing it with boiling water.
- Adjust to Taste: If you want a stronger peppermint flavor, add extract in small increments—¼ teaspoon at a time—to avoid overpowering the syrup.
