Why you'll love this recipe
Versatile - you can use them as general flatbreads, for kebabs or falafel, or my halloumi souvlaki.
This is a yeast free bread, so it's very quick and easy!
Get the pan very hot for best results - you want the naan breads to cook quickly.
Make them in a frying pan or griddle pan.
Rather than going for authenticity, this naan bread recipe focuses on making the naan fast. In just 15 mins!
Just mix the four ingredients together, knead a few times, then roll out the dough and dry fry for a few minutes.
You could try adding in some flavourings, such as crushed garlic and chopped coriander to make them extra special.
Or brush with melted butter or oil and sprinkle with chilli flakes.
Serving suggestions
This naan bread is perfect for mopping up your favourite curry.
I often make them alongside my favourite red lentil dahl.
These naan breads would be perfect with this healthy spinach and chickpea curry , Tofu Curry, Chickpea Curry, Bombay Aloo or even as a flatbread with my Spanish beans.
Ingredients
Ingredients you will need:
Flour - use plain flour, all-purpose or gluten free flour.
Plain Yogurt - use Greek or any plain or dairy-free yogurt. Just not one with any flavorings.
Baking Powder - this gives the naan bread air and fluffiness. You can leave it out if using self-raising flour.
Salt - optional, but gives a little extra flavor.
Tools you'll need:
Mixing Bowl
Rolling pin - don't have one? Try using the side of a wine bottle.
Frying pan - one that can withstand a fairly high heat. Cast iron works great, but any other skillet or frying pan will work.
Tips
You don't need to properly knead the dough, just bring it all together and knead a couple of times to do so.
Roll the dough out nice and thin. Trust me that they'll still get nice and fluffy when they cook.
To get the dough thin, be sure to flour the counter so they don't stick.
I usually roll out one naan while another is cooking. If you roll them all out first, then they could get warm and stick to the counter.
Get the pan very hot for best results - you want the naan breads to cook quickly
Make them in a frying pan or griddle pan.
You want a sticky, but manageable dough. If it's dry, add a little more yogurt, if it's too wet to roll, add a little flour. The amounts vary depending on brands and how thick the yogurt is.
Storage tips
You can make this naan dough up to 3 days ahead. Just keep in the fridge until ready to roll and cook. I like to make a double batch and keep it in the fridge so I can use the dough as flatbreads for lunch or dinner over the next few days.
If you've cooked extra naan, you can keep it in the fridge for the next day. Just reheat in a frying pan or in the toaster. It makes them crispier and still delicious.
Variations
Brush wet flavourings on the naan bread after, such as garlic-infused butter or herb/chilli oil
Add dry spices to the dough, such as cumin, garam masala, sumac etc...
Try brushed with oil and sprinkled with onion seeds.
Add chilli oil or oil and some dried chilli flakes for a bit of heat.
Special diets
Make gluten-free naan: swap to your favourite gluten-free flour and adjust the amount as it might absorb the yogurt differently.
Make vegan naan: It's really easy to make vegan naan, just swap to dairy free yogurt, such as soy yogurt.

How to enjoy naan bread
Since these naan breads are so quick and tasty, you can use them for more than just alongside an Indian meal. They're fluffy and delicious yeast free flatbreads so have many uses:
These breads are perfect alongside a delicious curry - try my dahl recipe or Cauliflower Leaf Curry.
As a quick bread with dips (try my beet hummus)
As a flatbread filled with veggies.
It's great for packed lunches with cheese or other fillings.
Try it as an alternative to traditional bread in my vegan tuna mayo.
Serve it to dip into soup, like my quick kale soup, pea soup or tomato soup.

Easy Naan Bread Recipe (yeast-free)
Equipment
- mixing bowl
- Frying pan
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups (200g) all purpose flour (plain flour)
- 1 cup (250g) plain yogurt (or dairy free vegan yogurt)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. You’ll probably need to use your hands to bring it all together. Knead it for a minute or so in the bowl until it comes together in a fairly sticky ball. If necessary, add a little more flour to make it manageable.
- Divide it into six equal pieces. Using a rolling pin dusted with flour, roll each one out onto a floured surface to about 6” diameter.
- Heat a frying pan (without oil) until hot. Cook each flatbread for a few minutes on each side until lightly golden spots appear and it puffs up.
- Best eaten on the same day. If making ahead, warm them up in the oven before serving.

Really great! I made as directed and they were good. I added a touch more salt, turned the heat down a bit, and sprayed the pan lightly with olive oil. Put the naan in the pan and then lightly sprayed the side facing away from the pan. Doing it that way, they were even better. Bit hit!
Nicole
Love this recipe. Have made it a few times now.
jo
made it loved it add your favorite seasoning for extra flavor like zatar or even plain with butter cinnamon sugar at the end. extra yummy will be making again
Kate Hackworthy
The whole family loved this recipe!
Kaye
I'mve made this like a dozen times. ASo good. I usually add garlic butter and chopped coriander.
Suleima Adee
Had to use way more flour than the recipe called for to make the dough workable. It was too sticky, but became more manageable after adding way more flour
LisaD
I will never buy pre-made naan again! Thank you, Kate.
Ashley
I love using this for homemade personal pizzas! It's perfect, quick, and easy. It's a hit in our household.
Yvette
OMG sooooo easy & delicious!
Amanda
Our family favorite! So simple and delicious. We use it with all kinds of meals! Definitely recommend!
Suz
They were delicious, I only had crème fraîche in the fridge so used this instead of yoghurt, gave the Nans a lovely deep flavour….topped with crushed garlic, butter and coriander. Yum 😋
Minou
I love these quick and easy naan breads. I served them brushed with melted garlic butter with your yummy beetroot hummus and avocado.
AJ
Surprisingly good result (fluffy and moist) for the easiness and quickness of these naan breads. As you said in the description not "authentic" naans, but still a whole lot of better than nothing! 🙂
Róisin
Absolutely delish !
Nicki Domino
This was a quick and easy recipe. I had some trouble with the dough as it was very sticky. I did sub buttermilk for the yogurt so that could be why I had a difficult time. However, it still turned out great and delicious!
Thank you.
Jess
Can you freeze naan?
Kate Hackworthy
Hi, these sort of naan are best eaten fresh so they're fluffy.
Kay
Oh my goodness these were SO easy and so delicious! I used Liberte's greek high protein plain yogourt.
Thank you so much!!! Printing off the recipe now to go in my cookbook!
Debbie
great recipe
Norma
This recipe is absolutely fantastic! The right consistency and the best flavoring! I used full fat organic greek yogurt. I will never ever buy naan again because these are the most delicious I've ever tasted. Thank you so much for such a wonderful recipe!
Surae
I made these for dinner to go with Chickpeas Curry. They turned out great! I could not believe how easy and good they were. I made them vegan and next time will try gluten free as well.
Jen Q
Great recipe!! Love how quick it was to make, went perfectly well with my dahl. Definitely making this again
Amber
It was my first time making naan bread, and I could not be more impressed. I’m not a baker or anything, but it was so easy to make at first try and after adding some garlic and butter as a glaze, the flavor is amazing.
J
Fantastic! Used Greek yogurt and halved the recipe, as we're only 2 people, and it was perfect. The consistency is lovely and it was so fast to make. Didn't have any problems with gloopiness or stickiness...used a tiny bit of olive oil on my hands and flour on the counter. Thanks for a great recipe!
Ali
It was super easy and came put delicious. For my famoly of 5 I'll double the recipe next time though. Also, I found oiling my hands with olive oil was a lot more effective than using flour to keep the dough from sticking when handling it. I also didn't have a rolling pin so i just used my fingers and then palm to press the dough out and it worked just fine.
carly
my boyfriend and i love to make pizzas on the grill on naan breads. these were pretty easy to make and there were enough to make pizzas for the whole family. everyone loved them! there were a few extras and we won’t be eating them right away. can we freeze the already made breads?
Cheryl
I've made this recipe twice in the last two weeks, it's brilliant!! Even though my first attempt I was shy some yogurt, and added a spill of milk, and also fried in coconut oil, and the 2nd time, I needed a little extra flour and dry fried them as instructed, both were delicious. Next time I hope to plan ahead, make ahead and chill before rolling. BTW, I have Celiac Desease so I do use B.R.M. one to one flour.
Thank for sharing you easy recipe and all the extra suggestions and tips, brilliant!!
Lori
Omg! So delicious! We eat it with my crockpot, coconut curry, chicken
Stephanie
This recipe is excellent! I made it tonight and my husband and granddaughter loved them. I cooked them on a comal (a Mexican griddle used for tortillas) and they were delicious. I also brushed them with olive oil with crushed garlic. Such a simple recipe for such a tasty bread product.
AMANDA
Fabulous easy recipe and super tastie - better than anything from the shops!
I used half the amount for 4 and added a teaspoon of onion seeds - delish!
Ally
Yummy!
Jackie
Can I half the recipe?
Kate Hackworthy
Absolutely!
Elizabeth Cobb
Can I use sour cream or some other alternative if I don’t have plain yogurt on hand?
Kate Hackworthy
Hi Jackie
Sour cream should work, but if it's very thick, you may need to thin it slightly with a little water. Let me know how it works out!
Sarah
It turned out delicious! My family all agree. I used Icelandic yogurt (what I had on hand). I was concerned it might need water but the consistency was fine.
Ali
I love how easy this recipe is! My husband is a huge fan of curry and will eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner so having an easy go-to naan recipe like this is fantastic for making something to serve alongside.
Vanessa
Made this tonight and turned out excellent. I'm saving it for next time.
Jackee
Thanks for this recipe. So simple yet so tasty. I was so surprised by how soft the naan was. My kids who can be really picky loved it!
G.W.
I made this ma’am recipe tonight and it was fabulous! I will never buy it in the store again, it was super quick and easy and way cheaper to make it than to buy it in the store. It tasted way better than any of the store bought naans we have tried. My husband and I both loved it. I spread butter on one side and used crushed garlic. Thank you so much for sharing!
Kelsey
This is AMAZING. It tastes so good I couldn’t believe it. Store bought naan is absolutely subpar and never anywhere close to the real thing, so I was blown away at how easy and simple it was to make something SO great. I never review things ever, and this has enough love already but I just had to put in my two cents.
Julie
I made this tonight and used vegan yogurt. Absolutely brilliant and so simple. Made it before with melted plant based butter and garlic which was also great. Freezes really well too.
Dave
I never post anything online but this was exactly as described: quick, easy, made from simple ingredients and went down really well with adults and kids alike. Served with some homemade curries and the red lentil Dahl on the website, which was truly awesome and easy too! Great job and love your work. We’ll try more recipes. Thank you!
Mel
Awesome recipe and directions will never buy shop bought again me and my family loved them we added mixed herbs to the dough and brushed oil and garlic over half of them and left the other half plain we ate along side the red lentil Dahl from your page and as plant based eaters and new to recipes this ticked all the boxes .Thank you for an easy to follow and tasty recipe.
Carol
First time making naan, used Kefir because I didn't have plain yogurt. Needed a bit more flour but the dough was beautiful, the process very simple and they were just as you said, fluffy and delicious!
You are right I won't be buying store bought again, these are just too easy and too good not to make. Thank you for the great recipe!
Mary ODonnell
Hi Made this naan bread tonight its was scrumptious with my chicken curry. I will definitely make it again. Thank you so much.
Excellent rescipe.

Tried these for the first time and not bad BUT I used Stainless Steel pans and one burned kinda bad so I didn't put it on high/high for the rest of them and turned out okay. Are you using Stainless pans?
Ran
Loved it! Easy and will make again.
Mischa
This was interesting. I tried three different naan recipes today, to get a feel for it. This was the only non-yeast option I tried. It made a surprisingly sticky dough- more of a batter texture. It was frustratingly goopy and I added another cup of flour.
I eventually got enough flour in it to stretch it out to naan shaped, and it ends up very fluffy. My partner really liked the tangy flavor- she thinks that the extra yogurt really adds something to it. She likened it to sourdough bread. I'm going to try to play around with the flour and try this recipe again. I liked not having to wait for the yeast dough to rise like the others I tried
Gigi
Worked perfectly! Will make again!
CJ
Used gluten free flour and it tasted delicious! The naan was moist and had a good flavor to it. Will make again!!
Carla
This is the best recipe. Wow!! My family love it. After reading all the comments, I had to try them. It turns out sooo good. I used my tortilla press and super easy. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I was craving for a healthy Naan for so long. Great pair with my veggie Korma dish.
Mike
Delicious, easy all the ingredients simple and appetizing, perfect for the trying-to-help husband.
Lori Grevstad
These were so delicious and so quick! I brushed them with garlic butter and served alongside spaghetti and meatballs. Can’t wait to make them with butter chicken!!
A.L
Great recipe. I use it instead of bread for my pb&j breakfast carb (with 2 soft boils eggs on the side).
Belle
It was really easy and yummy, can be made by all ages <3!
Sara
Wow thank you!! Ordered takeout but the restaurant forgot my naan. I looked this up and made it before my food even got cold. It was quick and easy. The texture is good and it's really yummy! A true lifesaver!
Abel
This ended up needing a bit more flour. It’s an easy recipe.
Emmie
What an incredibly easy and successful recipe! This will be a regular. I did the original recipe and next time will try adding flavours. Thank you so much for this!
Hala
Thank you for sharing this super simple recipe! I was quite disappointed at first because even though I followed the proportions I had a gloppy mess to begin with. I ended up having to add an additional cup of flour by the end to make it somewhat manageable. That said, I know flour differs in different places and the climate where I live may have played a part. Next time I will add the yogurt little by little until the dough comes together rather than combining all ingredients as the recipe calls for. Once the dough came together. It worked like a charm. I just had to flour my surface continuously to avoid from sticking. I tried adding 1/2 tsp. Garam Masala and that added some nice warm flavoring. We also tried a few with brushed garlic butter which was also quite tasty. I'm glad I stuck to it because it turned out well in the end but I would not combine all wet and dry ingredients at once although it seems to have worked for many. I will also try with a little more salt next time! Thanks again.
Tia
This was amazing for being only four ingredients! So simple, and turned out great. Put some melted butter+garlic mix on it too.
Kelli Snow
Love how quick and easy this recipe is. However, I think 2 tsp rising agent to 1 cup flour is way to much. The first batch I made, I followed the recipe and could taste the baking powder after cooking. I used just under 1 tsp baking powder on my second batch and they were perfect, same texture but no weird baking powder flavor. Next time, I will try adding just a little extra salt. Will make again and again!
Jackie
Easy and tasted really nice. Will make again.
Hallie
When you say get the pan really hot, does that mean put it on medium-high, high, ???
Thanks!
Kate Hackworthy
High! I hope you enjoy them.
Kirsty McCarthy
absolutely love this recipe. i have used it multiple times now
sam
this is tha bomb. wont b using any other recipe now.
Robin
Can non-fat (plain) Greek yogurt be used? Looking forward to trying this!
Kate Hackworthy
Absolutely! Just add more flour or yogurt as needed to create a dough.
Keturah
Such amazing naan bread! Anyone I make this for loves it! I make these often and am so happy with them every time
Em J. C.
OMG! How have I missed this recipe till no?!
My partner & I are not vegan, but I tried your recipe to go with a curry for tonight's dinner. My partner, having just taken his 1st bite just said "They taste just like the ones I had in India! You can make these again!!"
Thank you. Have subscribed for more...
Kathy Chowning
We use store bought Naan to make individual pizzas. Will this recipe work for that?
Kate Hackworthy
It should be fine! I hope you enjoy them.
Shell
I don't like store bought naan that are available here. I think I'll stick to your recipe and enjoy authentic naan when visiting a restaurant.
Janet Scott
So quick and easy
Christina
Just like everyone else I have to say this was FANTASTIC! So quick and easy! From start to on the table under 15 mins!
Mark Denunzio
Can I use sour cream instead of yogurt
Kate Hackworthy
Hi, yes that should work. If your sour cream is really thick, just thin it out by stirring in a tablespoon or two of water.
Kattie
I have to make a HUGE batch of these, is there any way I can cook them in the oven instead of frying pan?
Kate Hackworthy
I haven't tried them in the oven. I'm inclined to think that it won't work, but could be worth a try!
Trozmom
You might also try them under broiler, baking show on t.v. did this.
Bernie
Just made these and they came out superb & soft.
I added in some Garlic salt to try, next time it'll be another herbs or 2.
Cherie
Fabulous recipe! Really easy and fast - had beautifully soft Naans on the plate in a few minutes! Thank you for sharing your recipe with us.
Colin Duncan
The simplicity makes this a great recipe to do with my youngest two kids! (8 and 10), Who are quite able to eat their body-weight in bread products! I have to double this recipe if any is making it to dinner! Works like a charm!
Chris
Nailed it, great easy recipe, many thanks!
L

angel-54
Fantastic recipes, I don’t mind the content before hand, very interesting, thank you
Mindy
A very tasty naan, and as promised, easy to make. I used Greek yogurt. A little plain, which I expected since I just did the basic recipe, but I'll try the flavored options listed the tips next time. I served it with red lentil dal, and it was perfect.
Chris
Easy to make gluten free and a great fast side dish. Excellent, thanks.
Mairéad
Love this, so easy and so tasty. Perfect with any Indian dish
Charlotte
Brilliant! So easy to make and genuinely fluffy and delicious. Far better than shop bought. I added some parsley and a bit of crushed garlic, than left them wrapped in foil on 120 for a bit longer (while sorting the city out) subtle but worked really well. Well definitely make this add-on, thank you for sharing. I'm planning to test out your other recipes next 😉
E Mousa
Super easy - as promised! And yes! Veery light and fluffy. This recipe is a keeper. I make a lot of middle eastern dishes and this bread is the perfect accompaniment. Thank you very much!
Warren
Thank you for sharing this recipe. They were super easy to make and tasted delicious... especially with the melted butter and crushed garlic! Significantly better than store bought naans and without any funky preservatives in there too. I expect I'll be making these for some time in to the future. Thanks again.

Kate Hackworthy
Hey Beth, thanks for taking the time to comment. There's a 'jump to recipe' button at the top if you ever come back.

I appreciated the novel and the jump to the recipe section 🙂

I feel the exact same. To read through a book before getting to a quick recipe makes it not all that quick.
Wonderful recipe and have used it more than once.
Kate Hackworthy
I'm pleased you like the recipe. Sorry about all the content. It does help some people and longer posts are the only way my posts will ever be seen by google as it has text/content to crawl. H
Turned out really well and soooooo quick. I put onion seeds in and garlic butter on top, a great quick addition to our curry. Thank you 🙂
Annette
This was delicious but my dough was extremely sticky, very hard to roll out. I did flour my board and rolling pin but it was extremely hard to do.
Joelle
This was so easy to make and turned out delicious!! My husband told me that he always expects homemade naan whenever I make curries now 😂Thank you 🙏🏼
Sandy
Great easy delicious recipe.
SueWoz
Yes! These are awesome!!! Made twice.
Found if made ahead of time and let dough
rest even better. Also, putting glass lid over pan
encourages bubbling. They are so easy to whip
up. Thank you!!!
Suryono
Great recipe!!! I added some ras el hanout before kneading it and did some melted butter with salt and garlic powder on the dough before frying. Quick and perfect naan in just 15 mins.
Stevie
I made the gluten free vegan recipe. I was surprised at how tasty they were and the texture despite not quite like original wheat flavour had a good slightly chewy bread like texture I like. I did add garlic n herb flavouring which made a difference! The family gave them the thumbs up 👍🏾 too!
Colin
Made with my grandson. They turned out really well.
Thank you
Col and Benji
Michele Smith
I’ve never seen plain vegan yogurt. Can I use vegan sour cream?
Kate Hackworthy
That should work! I also use vegan coconut yogurt and that works.
edwin brietz
I love the recipe, but I wonder if Greek yogurt or kefir are suitable replacements?
Kate Hackworthy
Hi, the Greek yogurt will work, you'll just have to adjust how much flour you use so you get a dough. The kefir may be too thin though, depends. If you have a thick kefir, then it's worth trying.
Eponine
I’m AMAZED by how good these tasted considering how easy they were to make. I’m currently trying new recipes everyday and this one will definitely be one of my favorites!
Dee
My naans ended up a bit cakey not so much like bread is it better to knead more or less for this consistency?
Kate Hackworthy
Hi, they only need to be kneaded for a moment to bring it all together. Roll them out really thin for them to be less cakey. I hope they work better next time. K
Ashley D
I made this with gluten free all purpose flour and it was delicious!! I had to add more flour, and I brushed them with garlic butter.
Jane Pryor
First attempt was pretty good. My error was I didn’t roll out thin enough. In the end sliced them in half to make thinner and put back in the hot pan.
I won’t buy naan bread again.
Excellent recipe.
Jo
Super simple and delicious! Had all the ingredients on hand. Also made a chickpea dish I found on Pinterest. Pared well!
Peter
Really nice and so easy to make.
Heath
Hi I made these and very good , just a quick question how long can you make the dough in advance , thankyou
Alluna
Nan bread is bread bread.
Naan literally means bread.
Tammy
Love this recipe! I add onion seeds and brush with garlic butter, once cooked. So simple, but taste lovely! I'll never buy shop bought again! 👌🏼
Joanna
Ridiculously simple and delicious. I am no cook, but this justed worked. I am delighted.
Laney
I just wanted to write and thank you!! I'm currently in Amman, Jordan where I work for an org supporting refugees, and the government imposed an official "lockdown" due to corona virus-enforced with police all stores shut down and no-one is allowed outside or will face arrest. They didn't give much of a warning so people have to make do with what they have in stock! Today is day 4 and we were told we will not be let out to restock, the government will only deliver water and some bread apparently later this week, who knows when the grocery stores will reopen!! Since i'm out most of the time for work I don't have many things but I did have the ingredients for these to go with the red lentil dhal I was able to make and store! SO happy these are saving me!!!! thank you so much, will definitely be looking to see more simple ingredient recipes to see how I can make my supplies last! stay safe everyone!
Mary
Hope you are safe and groceries will be available soon. I'm in Illinois in the USA. We are on lockdown but grocery stores are open. We must keep six feet of separation and we have now been told to wrar homemade masks when in the store.
Oliver
Lovely had them with a curry!

Amazingly quick recipe. If I do not have yoghurt, could milk be used as a substitute? If yes, how much milk for this recipe.
Kate Hackworthy
Hi, sorry, but milk would be a bit too thin for this recipe. You could substitute sour cream though.
Julia
Could you use vegan mayo ?
Kate Hackworthy
Hi, I haven't tried it with vegan mayo. I use vegan yogurt for it most times I make it and that works perfectly. Vegan mayo could be a little rich, but it's worth a try!
Steph
Do you need to use Greek yogurt or plain yogurt? At the top you mention Greek but in the actual recipe you say plain yogurt.
Kate Hackworthy
Hi Steph, any yogurt works. I've used Greek, regular plain, soy. Just any non-flavoured yogurt will be fine.
Mac
Awesome recipe. Tried it out last night. Thank you.
Sandy
Came out fantastic !
Vicky B
Fantastic, I made with honey Greek yoghurt as that wa the all I had in and garlic, they were ace, great recipe xx
Taryn
Do you think I could use almond milk instead of yogurt?
Kate Hackworthy
Hi Taryn,
Almond milk will be too thin to bind it together, but you could use a dairy free yogurt.
Julie Farnham
Loved them and so quick and convenient
Jacquie
I got my son to make these for his cooking exam, so we tried them at home first and they came out really good and were really easy to make and tasted lovely. Will definitely do them again,.
Lynne
Made these naan breads tonight to go with a chicken and spinach curry. Absolutely perfect, so light and fluffy. Brushed with melted butter and crushed garlic. Tasted divine. I had a problem rolling them into rounds but they ended up as authentic naan bread shapes! No more shop bought naans in this house!
SJH
So quick and easy and tasty! I would recommend this recipe to anyone- having a child with multiple allergies makes it hard to have foods that are safe when everyone else is eating things that my child can’t- but this recipe has has now become a staple in our household- the band truly so come out fluffy, soft and yummy!
SJH
* the nan is soft, fluffy and yummy! Better than a shop bought or even restaurant nan!
(Sorry don’t know what my phone was typing out instead lol)
Dolores Dugger Howze
SCRUMPTIOUS!!!
Nikki
So easy to make and taste way better than shop bought. Great with the quick chickpea curry.
Sarah
And they are definitely 5 star!
Mansi Shah
Brilliant. Thank you. Turned out just like restaurants.
Sarah
Amazing, amazing naan bread. I made them with spelt and they turned out great!
Dawn Elizabeth
Needed to be able to make this really quickly as the rest of the food was going to be ready in minutes. It was fab!! Easy, quick and really fluffy😀. I brushed with garlic butter and chucked over some nigella seeds to finish off.
Sveta
Outstanding!!!! Became our family favourite !!! THANKS A LOT!!!!
Abbey Lewis
Absolute winner! I made them with my friends and they couldn’t believe how simple they were. Extremely impressed, thanks 😌
Lynn roberts
So tasty and can add garlic, poppy seeds etc, etc. My 10yr old grandson loves making and eating it
Steve
I’ve been making naan bread for a long time and never quite got them right.
These are easy to make tasty and fluffy.
Have made them time and again
S
So fluffy and easy! I've made them often. Love this recipe.
Wud
I’m a Naan fan❤️ Was so happy to see this awesome recipe❤️ Managed to make Garlic cheese butter Naan ❤️ Will try using olive oil for next attempt. Thank you so much for the nice yummy easy recipe. Loveeeee
Annette
I made these for the second time tonight. I’ve tried a few different recipes for naan, but we’ve decided we like this one best. I made ahead of time by pulsing the ingredient together in my food processor, then dividing the dough into 6 balls which I stored in the fridge until ready to use. I think this made the dough easier to work with and I got more bubbles than last time so I’ll do this again. Dry frying isn’t recommended for the type of no -stick pan I have, so I brushed a tiny bit of olive oil onto the pan. The balls of dough were patted out until very thin. Perfect! I love the idea of adding different flavours and using them for other things so will keep experimenting. And just a little thing that makes me love your recipe even more is it uses 250ml, a double batch 500ml, so no need to look around for other ways to use the remains of a 500ml container of yoghurt before it goes out of date (which regularly happens with me when a recipe just requires a small amount).
Mikaela
These look like they're AMAZING! I'm making them tomorrow for my 14 month old, she LOVES Naan. My question is can you freeze the dough before cooking it or is it better to make them then freeze? I know sometimes naan can get chewy. I'd like to avoid any extra chewiness if possible. Thanks! 🙂
Karen
Wow just made these , was sceptical but they are really great and so easy! I’ll be making them again , thank you
Jaime
Wow! My celiac girls also can not have dairy, eggs, corn, quinoa, oats, and a plethora of kther foods. This Naan recipe was amazing and so easy to come together! We used Daiya Greek style yogurt in Bob's Red Mill one to one flour. I did use extra flour because its pretty sticky stuff, but the results left my family and company asking for more. Thank you for sharing.
Katie
Made these on the spur of the moment one evening and couldn’t believe how easy they were. They bubbled and browned just like nann breads in store or from a restaurant do. I’m making them again tonight with vegan yoghurt and more salt. Can’t wait!
Natalie
Can you use coconut flour as a direct substitute to plain flour?
Kate Hackworthy
Hi Natalie
I've never tried it with coconut flour. If you do, you may need to adjust how much yogurt you use as it could be more or less absorbent than wheat flour. Just add 3/4 of the yogurt and add more or less as necessary to get the consistency in the photos. Let me know how it goes!
David
Coconut flour is VERY absorbent and has no bonding protein like gluten so you will need to add something to make it stick together or it will just crumble apart. You will need use much less flour and add something like flax, chia or xanthan gum to make it bread like. I can't tell you what works best as I tend to only use it in things I want to be crumbly and coconut flavored like coconut shortbread.
I make them with regular flour and they are amazing.
Rosie
I don't usually leave comments / reviews but just wanted to thank you for the recipe. I make a lot of bread so I wasn't sure what to expect from just yoghurt and flour but these naans were AMAZING. The texture is a bit different (more soft and delicate) but not in a bad way, and they taste great. My boyfriend compared it to sourdough! I guess because of the sharpness of the yoghurt. These really can't be beaten in terms of how easy and quick they are to pull together. I'll be making them again for sure.
Rose
Hi! Just wondering if you think wholemeal spelt would work for these.. or spelt in general? Or does it need to be more 'normal' flour?
Kate Hackworthy
Hi, I haven't tested them with spelt. You might need to adjust the amount of yogurt you use to get the right consistency, but other than that it should work. Let me know how it goes!
Sylvia
Amazing! So quick, easy and delicious! Saved as my favourite. Thanks for sharing!
Deborah
Very impressed. Used gluten free flour. Made them plain but next time will probably add garlic and herbs.
Tei Wildi

One of my all time favourite recipes, constantly requested at home - thank you!
Have you ever tried substituting the yoghurt with creme fraiche before? My husband accidentally brought home vanilla yoghurt instead of natural and I don't really fancy trying that one out 😝
Debbie Skerten
Very excited by this recipe and all the positive reviews. I can't wait to make them.
Lorinda
I made the naan bread for my family and they love it.
I also made a gluten free batch as my daughter and myself are gluten intolerant. It worked brilliantly. Thank you for this brilliant recipe.

I made these tonight, fantastic recipe, light fluffy and so tasty. I added chilli flakes to mine, then brushed with chilli oil so yummy. I will never buy them again. I also finished off over naked flame to get tha authentic charred flavour.

Cath
I am never buying naan bread again! So easy and absolutely yummy.
Annie
Fabulously easy recipe and great results.
Tina
This recipe is off the charts amazing! I was shocked at how close they taste in flavour and texture to restaurant naan - they have the chewiness that I love about naan bread. Very cool, and so quick and convenient. Like other commenters, I brushed them with butter and garlic, and I used my mix master with the dough hook so no hand kneading required.
Sarah
I made your naan breads last night. My friends ‘who are foodies’, Were blown away. Thank you. As you said, I’ll never buy them again xx
Darcy H
Love these!! We've made them a couple times with soy yogurt as my son has a milk/dairy allergy. Have also made them into mini pizzas after frying. Delish recipe! Thanks!
Susan Forde
This will become a regular in my weekly rotation. My son lovesssss these. I brushed mine with oil and sprinkled with garlic powder. Then added sliced tomatoes, basil and cheese. So yummy!!!!
Nam
No, this is not authentic and closer to roti/chapati plus baking powder but there's nothing wrong with that. Actually naan is easily the most overrated Indian bread outside of India. There are people in India that have never tried naan because there are too many other breads. Stick with this as actual naan is a pain and yields mixed results. If using gluten-free flour, do yourself a favor and use a boiling water mix. Roll it out with wax paper and peel off into the pan.
Moira Walker
Such an easy recipe. They turned out delicious. Will definitely be making my own in future. Thank you for the recipe.
Kirsten
Can't wait to try this recipe with my celiac son. FYI it isn't "vegan" if it has yogurt as an ingredient though!
Cathryn
I made these to have with curry. Turned out perfectly, great recipe and very easy. Will definitely make again. Thanks.
Declan
Made these and they were delicious.
Found the pastry sticky but once they were in the pan they came out perfectly
so soft, great taste.
Clare Payton
I made these after finding your recipe on Pinterest, made them gluten and dairy free ( doves gluten free plain flour and Alpro plain soya yoghurt) and I can't thank you enough! They are amazing! I left a comment and pic over on pinterest as I don't do other social media
Thanks again, easy , tasty and incredibly delicious!

Steph

Julie
So easy and takes minutes.
Superb.
Thanks for this recipe.
Tanya
Awesome recipe! I was getting ready to commit to a 3 hour process of making naan and realized my yeast wasn't active. I went searching for a quick, no yeast recipe and found this! So simple. I used a food processor to do all the mixing. They turned out amazing and will go perfect with my leftovers from yesterday 😊 (Daal, tikka masala and butter chicken). Thank you!
Kathryn
So quick, easy and so tasty, I will not buy naan or flatbread again. I mixed minced garlic in some olive oil and brushed on top, fabulous!
Ann
I love your thorough instructions! I loved this naan bread!

Homemade na'ans are so good, aren't they. These ones are my go-to!
