A refreshing Carrot Moscow Mule - carrot juice gives a delicious twist to the classic vodka cocktail. #springcocktail #mothersday #carrotjuice #moscowmule #cocktail

This Carrot Moscow Mule is a vegetable twist on the classic cocktail! And hey, adding carrot juice means it's practically like drinking salad, right?

A glass of Carrot Moscow Mule cocktail - vodka, carrot juice, ginger ale and lime.

Commissioned by TheBar

Carrot Moscow Mule

The classic Moscow Mule includes vodka, ginger beer, lime juice and ice in a tall glass. But I wanted to create a Moscow Mule with a twist.

I was thinking about what works well with the ginger and lime flavours and instantly thought that fresh carrot juice would be perfect - and it is!

Carrot juice has long been my go-to hangover cure, so I love adding it straight into the cocktail.

It makes it feel a little more virtuous and a bit less naughty. It also makes it wonderfully bright orange in colour!

The subtle natural sweetness of the carrot juice works well with the ginger and lime. The ginger ale's heat is toned down a little by the carrot juice, and then enlivened with the tart lime juice.

I made this Carrot Moscow Mule cocktail for thebar.com, a fantastic repository of cocktail recipes, from the perfect Old Fashioned to the classic Mojito. Head over to their site and check out the fab range of classic cocktail recipes.

They asked me to share my favourite classic cocktail recipe, with a personal twist, and I chose the Moscow Mule.

I love the traditional Moscow Mule and it always reminds me of my first years in London, working in a bar and partying any chance I got with my best friend.

We both loved the spicy gingery cocktail. Now, years later, the smell of ginger and lime always takes me back to those halcyon days.

Your Moscow Mule with carrot juice sounds absolutely delicious, but please don't make me drink salad - that doesn't sound at all pleasing 🙁

OMG I love this! For one, it's so pretty. And for two, I love your rational. I'd totally drink one of these and be happy to call it salad. Haha.
